It is always good to compare stats when one person did the job 3 times longer than the other. Especially when you look at Eddie G's stats when he left for Seattle, nothing short of lock down.

With this train of thought B.Anderson and Ken Griffey both enjoyed similar sucess hitting for power in the mid 90's as well.C. I don't know that closer by committee won't necessarily work, but it makes me uncomfortable.WWWWWWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13029975451902509241noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6350747157402784213.post-49526459554862296992010-03-24T07:33:34.229-06:002010-03-24T07:33:34.229-06:00Why is everyone so damn worked up about us having ...Why is everyone so damn worked up about us having to get a "closer"? Please, please look at Nathan's stats before he became our closer. He had one career save. The next year with us he 44 with us and, most significantly, saw both a big jump in his strikeout rate and a decrease in his walks. Nothing in Nathan's history indicated he'd be a great closer. YOU DON'T NEED A PROVEN CLOSER TO CLOSE GAMES!!!!

And ummm....for a stat guy I can't believe you are so against the closer by committee. You are seriously telling me that if the team has a couple of lefties coming up its not a better idea to bring in Mijares and otherwise go with Rauch or whoever? Closer-by-committee is exactly the thing you should do if you don't have one lights out type of guy. This whole debate is mind boggling to me.snacksnoreply@blogger.com
